Solar power is one of many promising solutions in the challenge of curbing carbon emissions and addressing climate change. In order to meaningfully reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, we’re going to need the leadership, infrastructure, and competence in the solar energy field to make a change this big (and this critical) become a reality. This is why we have chosen to partner with the Solar Foundation.
As a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the Solar Foundation is dedicated to developing both the technology and the strong and diverse workforce needed for widespread adoption of solar energy. Having no industry affiliations, the Solar Foundation has earned a reputation for impartiality and rigorous analysis on the front lines of progress towards a brighter solar future.
One of the Solar Foundation projects we were proud to support in 2019 was an industry training and hiring workshop and a career fair at the Solar Power International trade show in Salt Lake City, UT. At the interactive workshop, about 40 conference attendees gained a deeper understanding of ways solar employers can make the best use of public resources and networks to help develop their workforce.
Two days later, the Solar Foundation career fair provided an excellent chance for industry employers to build relationships with a diverse group of energy professionals, solar job seekers, and students looking to pursue a career in solar energy. Around 150 conference attendees had the opportunity to connect with 16 solar industry companies, including both regional installers and international firms.
“We believe that increasing access to this clean, abundant, reliable, and affordable energy source will lift up people’s lives and bring about a prosperous future for all.”
Established in 2013, the Salal Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Salal Foundation and Salal Credit Union are separate, independent entities, each governed by its own Board of Directors and bylaws.
